MAIN AI UPDATES / 10th March 2026
📊 AI sessions now 56% the size of global search 📊
Graphite study reveals AI usage is far larger than previous web-only reports suggested.
A new study from Graphite finds that AI assistants now generate 45 billion monthly sessions worldwide, equivalent to 56% of total search engine volume—four to five times larger than prior estimates that only tracked web data. ChatGPT dominates with 89% of global AI sessions, while 83% of all AI usage occurs on mobile apps, a surface most earlier analyses ignored entirely. Crucially, search itself has not declined: combining AI and traditional search, total usage grew 26% worldwide since 2023, suggesting the market is expanding rather than shifting. The finding reshapes how marketers and publishers should think about SEO, ad spend, and content distribution strategy.
⚖️ Anthropic sues Pentagon over supply chain blacklisting ⚖️
AI company challenges DoD designation typically reserved for foreign threats.
Anthropic has filed two federal lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Defense after being designated a "supply chain risk"—a classification normally applied to foreign security threats like Huawei. The dispute stems from a proposed $200 million AI contract, with Anthropic claiming it refused to allow its systems for mass surveillance or autonomous weapons. The company argues the decision is unlawful and violates First Amendment rights. Over 30 OpenAI and Google staffers signed a legal brief supporting Anthropic, warning the blacklisting threatens U.S. AI leadership. This case could set major precedent for how AI companies navigate defense contracts and ethical boundaries.
🤝 OpenAI acquires Promptfoo for enterprise AI security 🤝
Red-teaming platform will integrate into OpenAI Frontier for built-in security testing.
OpenAI announced the acquisition of Promptfoo, an AI security and red-teaming platform already used by over 25% of Fortune 500 companies to identify vulnerabilities in AI systems during development. The platform will remain open source and continue serving existing customers post-acquisition. Once the deal closes, Promptfoo's capabilities will integrate natively into OpenAI Frontier, providing built-in security testing, evaluation workflows, and compliance reporting for enterprise AI agents. This acquisition strengthens OpenAI's competitive positioning as enterprises increasingly demand robust security controls for AI deployments.

🔍 Anthropic launches Code Review for Claude Code 🔍
The rollout of Code Review for Claude Code addresses growing quality concerns as AI-generated code proliferates. The tool connects directly to GitHub, scanning pull requests for bugs, logic errors, and security vulnerabilities using multiple AI agents. Each automated review costs $15-$25 and is available for Team and Enterprise accounts—notably, the tool flags issues but doesn't approve or block PRs, preserving existing workflows.
💰 Yann LeCun raises $1.03B for new AI startup 💰
Yann LeCun, Meta's Chief AI Scientist and Turing Award winner, has secured $1.03 billion for his new venture, Advanced Machine Intelligence—Europe's largest seed round ever. The pricing signals massive confidence in LeCun's vision for next-generation AI beyond current LLM paradigms, including world models and self-supervised learning that better understand physical reality.
