🤖 Anthropic rockets to $183B valuation with massive $13B funding round 🤖
Claude maker closes gap with OpenAI in biggest funding round to date
Anthropic announced a giant $13B Series F funding round co-led by Iconiq, Fidelity, and Lightspeed, with backing from BlackRock affiliates and Qatar Investment Authority. The Claude maker's valuation of $183B represents a 3x increase from its March fundraising round. Claude Code, its developer assistant launched in May, already generates $500M in run-rate revenue, positioning Anthropic as a formidable competitor to OpenAI in the AI race.
💼 OpenAI acquires Statsig for $1.1B 💼
ChatGPT maker makes one of its largest acquisitions in all-stock deal
OpenAI is paying $1.1B for product-testing startup Statsig in an all-stock deal, marking one of the company's largest acquisitions to date. Statsig CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as CTO of Applications, while the rest of the team continues operating independently from Seattle. The acquisition strengthens OpenAI's product development capabilities as it scales its enterprise offerings and consumer applications.
🧠 Mistral adds transparent Memories to Le Chat 🧠
French AI company introduces hybrid memory system for better user conversations
Mistral has launched a new "Memories" feature in Le Chat that allows the AI assistant to remember and recall information from previous conversations. The hybrid memory system provides transparent, user-controlled recall with visible citations and editable memory logs that users can review and modify. This enhancement aims to make conversations more contextual and personalized while maintaining user control over stored information.

🍎 Apple loses 4 AI researchers 🍎
Four Apple AI employees have departed in a single week, with key researchers joining major competitors. Lead robotics AI researcher Jian Zhang moved to Meta's Robotics Studio, while John Peebles and Nan Du are headed to OpenAI, and Zhao Meng is joining Anthropic. The departures raise questions about Apple's AI retention strategy as competitors aggressively recruit talent from the iPhone maker's once fast-growing AI division.
🇨🇳 Alibaba unveils domestic AI chip 🇨🇳
Alibaba has developed a domestically-manufactured AI inference chip as China pushes to reduce reliance on US semiconductor technology. The chip is currently in testing phase but represents Beijing's broader pressure on Chinese companies to avoid Nvidia purchases and strengthen domestic chip capabilities. This move aligns with China's strategic push to build self-sufficient AI infrastructure amid ongoing trade tensions and technology restrictions.
