👓 Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses get smarter 👓
Live translations for everyone

Meta has expanded its live translation feature to all Ray-Ban smart glasses users across supported markets. This technology allows wearers to hold conversations with people speaking English, French, Italian, or Spanish, and hear real-time translations through the glasses in their preferred language. For travelers, offline functionality is available by downloading language packs in advance. The company also announced new color options for the Skyler frames, including shiny chalky gray with sapphire Transitions lenses. Additional features coming soon include Live AI for continuous visual context, Instagram messaging integration, and expanded music app accessibility.

🧠 Microsoft's AI agents think deeper 🧠
Researcher & Analyst join the workforce

Microsoft has unveiled two first-of-their-kind reasoning agents named Researcher and Analyst, powered by OpenAI's deep reasoning models. These agents are part of Microsoft 365 Copilot's "Wave 2" spring release, designed to help tackle complex multi-step research and data analysis tasks. Alongside this launch, Microsoft released its 2025 Work Trend Index, revealing that companies leading in AI adoption report significantly higher productivity and thriving rates (71% compared to 37% globally). The company predicts the emergence of "Frontier Firms" where all employees will become "agent bosses" managing AI assistants within 2-5 years.

📱 Perplexity takes action on iOS 📱
AI assistant performs tasks across apps

Perplexity has introduced a feature to its iOS app that enables its AI assistant to not only answer questions but also take basic actions on iPhones. These capabilities include playing media, drafting emails, rescheduling meetings, booking rides, making reservations, and setting reminders. This marks one of the first instances of an AI assistant being able to directly interact with iPhone functions across multiple apps.

INTERESTING NEWS

📊 Google Gemini's user milestone 📊

Google has announced that Gemini has reached 350 million monthly active users and 35 million daily users as of March 2025. This represents substantial growth since late 2024, when it had only tens of millions of monthly users and 9 million daily active users. Despite this impressive expansion, Google still trails behind OpenAI's user base and is likely operating at a loss per user, similar to OpenAI's experience with its premium subscription plans.

🛡️ Anthropic's security insights 🛡️

Anthropic has published a March 2025 security report highlighting how malicious actors are misusing large language models like Claude. The most concerning discovery was a professional "influence-as-a-service" operation using Claude to orchestrate over 100 social media bot accounts across platforms. This operation used the AI not only for content generation but also to determine when bots should comment, like, or share posts based on political motivations. Other detected misuses included credential stuffing operations targeting IoT security cameras, recruitment fraud campaigns, and malware generation by technically unskilled actors. Anthropic has banned associated accounts and is enhancing detection methods.
