MAIN AI UPDATES / 29th July 2025

🌐 Microsoft Edge gets Copilot Mode 🌐
AI can now see across all your browser tabs

Microsoft has launched Copilot Mode, an experimental AI-powered feature in Edge that lets AI see across all your open tabs. Copilot Mode enables AI to make intelligent suggestions and handle complex tasks like comparing products across multiple tabs, helping with vacation rental research, and making restaurant reservations using voice commands.

The new mode introduces a streamlined interface with a single input box that combines chat, search, and web navigation. Coming soon, users will be able to grant Copilot access to browsing history and credentials for advanced actions like booking services automatically.

Available free for a limited time in all Copilot markets on Windows and Mac, this fully opt-in feature represents Microsoft's push into AI-powered browsing, with privacy and security controls through clear visual cues and user control.

📹 Runway launches Aleph video model 📹
New AI model edits existing videos, not just generates new ones

Runway has released Aleph, a new video model that can edit, transform, and generate videos. The model supports object manipulation, angle shifts, and style or lighting changes with high fidelity, going beyond basic text-to-video generation.

Aleph's key difference is its ability to understand and modify existing video content contextually, rather than just generating new footage from scratch.

💼 Excel AI agent beats McKinsey analysts 💼
Fundamental Labs claims 89% win rate against consulting firms

Fundamental Research Labs has unveiled "Shortcut", an AI agent for Excel that claims to outperform first-year analysts from McKinsey and Goldman Sachs in 89.1% of head-to-head comparisons. The tool works like a personal analyst, handling financial model building and complex spreadsheet tasks.

Despite limitations, the tool has gone viral on social media, with professionals calling it "a ChatGPT moment for financial modeling". The AI agent can automate analytical tasks that typically require hours of manual work from junior consultants.
