MAIN AI UPDATES / 24th October 2025

🌐 Microsoft updates AI browser following OpenAI launch 🌐
Microsoft launches comprehensive AI browser features just two days after OpenAI's Atlas announcement.

Microsoft introduced major updates to Edge browser's AI capabilities, launching Copilot Mode as a comprehensive assistant that views tabs, summarizes pages, and automatically fills forms.
The company also unveiled Mico, an animated orb assistant reminiscent of Clippy that provides voice-based teaching in a new "Learn Live" mode.
Additional features include Copilot Groups for collaborative conversations, Real Talk for opinionated AI responses, Memory & Personalization for recall capabilities, and Actions for multi-step workflows.
Health features now include medical responses based on Harvard Health sources and doctor location services.
This launch comes just two days after OpenAI's Atlas browser announcement, intensifying competition in the AI browser space.

💼 ChatGPT adds company knowledge search 💼
OpenAI's new feature consolidates context from connected applications directly within ChatGPT.

OpenAI introduced a "company knowledge" feature for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education plans that consolidates context from connected applications directly within ChatGPT.
The feature is powered by a specialized version of GPT-5 trained to search across multiple sources simultaneously, providing comprehensive business-specific answers with clear citations.
The system respects existing company permissions, ensuring ChatGPT only accesses information each user is already authorized to view.
This advancement makes AI assistants more contextually aware for enterprise workflows by seamlessly integrating with organizational data sources.

🍎 OpenAI acquires Sky for Mac 🍎
OpenAI buys macOS assistant developer to enable native desktop app control.

OpenAI acquired Software Applications Incorporated, creators of Sky — a sophisticated macOS assistant that operates as a context-aware intelligent layer on Mac desktops.
Sky can read screens, automate applications, and assist with writing and coding tasks through a floating AI interface.
OpenAI plans to integrate Sky's macOS capabilities directly into ChatGPT, potentially enabling native desktop app control and workflow automation.
The acquisition brings on board the team that previously created the iOS app Workflow, which Apple acquired in 2017 and transformed into Apple Shortcuts.
OpenAI is also expanding Shared Projects features to all users as part of this strategic move to strengthen its desktop presence.

Google is preparing to launch Genie 3, a world model that enables users to generate and explore AI-created virtual worlds from text prompts in a web-based playground.
This technology creates interactive, explorable environments rather than static images or videos.
Genie 3 appears to be entering public testing phase, positioning Google to compete in AI-powered world building and interactive content creation with applications in gaming, education, and creative industries.

📎 Microsoft revives Clippy as Mico 📎

Microsoft introduced Mico, a new AI assistant for Copilot's voice mode that channels the spirit of Clippy nearly 30 years later.
The bouncing orb character responds with real-time facial expressions during conversations and includes a Learn Live mode that functions as a Socratic tutor using interactive whiteboards.
Mico integrates with Copilot's new memory feature to surface personalized information and is available in the US at launch.
The assistant even includes Easter eggs — rapidly poking Mico triggers special responses, echoing Clippy's playful legacy.
