🤖 Nvidia becomes first $5 trillion company 🤖
The chipmaker dominates AI processors with near-monopoly market share and massive government contracts.
Nvidia has made history as the first company to surpass a $5 trillion market capitalization, driven by its 70-95% market share in AI processors and $500 billion in backlog orders. CEO Jensen Huang announced plans to build seven government supercomputers using over 100,000 Blackwell GPUs, all manufactured domestically. The company also secured a $100 billion partnership with OpenAI and a major robotaxi fleet deal with Uber for 100,000 vehicles starting in 2027. High-end Nvidia chips remain a critical sticking point in US-China trade tensions, with President Trump expected to discuss the matter with Xi Jinping.
⚡ Cursor debuts Composer model ⚡
The AI coding platform's first proprietary model achieves frontier results with 4x faster generation speed.
Cursor released Composer, its first proprietary coding model achieving frontier coding results with generation speed four times faster than similar models. The model is trained on real-world software engineering challenges in large codebases and optimized for high-speed agent use within Cursor. Built as a mixture-of-experts (MoE) language model with long-context support, Composer uses reinforcement learning to specialize in development environments with access to tools like file editing, terminal commands, and semantic search. The release positions Cursor as a major competitor in AI-assisted development, moving beyond reliance on third-party systems.
🔬 OpenAI targets 2028 researcher breakthrough 🔬
CEO Sam Altman outlines ambitious timeline for autonomous AI research capability.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed the company is tracking toward achieving an intern-level research assistant by September 2026 and a fully automated "legitimate AI researcher" by 2028. The AI researcher will be a system capable of autonomously delivering on larger research projects, representing a major leap from current capabilities. OpenAI is betting on continued algorithmic innovation and dramatically scaling test time compute to achieve its goal of creating superintelligence within the next decade. This timeline reflects the company's confidence in rapid AI advancement despite current technical limitations.
