Perplexity pivots toward agentic finance with access to 12,000+ banks via Plaid.

Perplexity has rolled out a Plaid integration that lets users connect bank accounts, credit cards, and loans directly to its Computer agent, transforming it into a personal finance hub. Plaid's 12,000+ bank network feeds read-only data into the agent, which then builds customized budgets, net worth trackers, debt payoff plans, and retirement dashboards through simple text prompts. University of Oxford researchers built an AI system that detects invisible changes in heart fat from routine CT scans, flagging high-risk patients up to 5 years before heart failure onset with 86% accuracy across 72,000 patients. In the highest-risk group, 1 in 4 developed heart failure — a 20x gap versus those classified as safe. Integration into existing CT workflows means no added imaging costs.
